Calling all ImpleMéndez members!
We are pleased to announce that The Vulnerable Accused in the Criminal Justice System (VACJS) Conference will be held at Cardiff University (Wales) on 10 to 11 September 2025 with generous support from the Centre for Law and Society (Cardiff University), the Society of Legal Scholars, and the ImpleMéndez Action.
We hope to see many of you in attendance at the conference. The call for abstracts are attached.
We have a limited number of places available for ImpleMéndez members to apply for reimbursement to attend the conference. Priority will be given to young researchers (those under the age of 40 years at the time of application) and those from Inclusiveness Target Countries (https://www.cost.eu/about/ strategy/excellence-and- inclusiveness/). Priority is also afforded to those whose abstract is accepted for a place at the conference. Quality of the submitted abstract and its relevance to the conference themes will also be considered. ImpleMéndez members are encouraged to participate in a workshop and contribute to a report relating to their expertise and the Méndez principles. Those claiming reimbursement are required to participate in the workshop and contribute to the report. There is also the opportunity to contribute to a Special Issue for a journal (TBC). ImpleMéndez members are strongly encouraged to register their interest to contribute.
If you wish to apply for an ImpleMéndez reimbursed place at the conference, please include the following information with your abstract:
-
That you wish to be considered for a reimbursed place at the conference;
-
Whether you are under 40 at the time of application;
-
Whether you are based in an Inclusiveness Target Country;
-
Confirmation that you will participate in an ImpleMéndez workshop and contribute to a report relating to your expertise and the Méndez principles.
Abstracts and accompanying informaiton can be submitted to VACJSConference@cardiff.ac.uk.
Further details on reimbursement will be provided to successful applicants in due course.
We look forward to welcoming you to Cardiff and to including you within our growing research network.
With warm wishes,
Roxanna, Sam and Harriet (VACJS Conference Organising Committee)
